Advancing together into a brighter future

Ko wai mātou | About us

Well, it’s not actually about us at all.  It’s about the people and communities we serve.  Ngāti Toa is a vibrant and influential iwi, firmly grounded in our cultural identity.  And we’re paddling our own waka forward in leading significant change in enhancing the mana, wellbeing and prosperity of Ngāti Toa and the communities in which we thrive.

Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role

As MAURIORA NAVIGATOR you will provide support for whānau who need access to critical services and activities while enabling whānau to be self-determining, including being responsible for:

  • Supporting registered health workers in development of whānau plans, that result in whānau sustainably to achieve their goals.

  • Supporting whānau affected by all aspects of life to uphold the mana for the next generation.

  • Facilitating support of whānau needs by engaging with community networks, service providers and government agencies.

  • Measuring and reporting on service outcomes, ensuring our services align with both whānau needs and framework expectations.

We are looking for someone with a passion for people and community, who is committed to ongoing professional growth and development, enjoys incorporating Te Ao Māori within their professional practice, and can operate with authenticity and discretion. As a successful candidate, you will have:

  • Proven ability to work with families in need, including vulnerable & at risk whānau.

  • Ability to empathise with people, while creating safe environments that encourage whanau to grow from where they are to where they want to be.

  • Strong networking skills, able to work within family and professional environments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of Whānau, hapū, iwi, and the Te Triti o Waitangi and its implications for Māori health and wellbeing.

  • Satisfactory police vet and assessment results in accordance with the Vulnerable Children’s Act

  • A full NZ Drivers Licence

But the thing that will really stand out is your love for the work, and the people.  The Rūnanga is a diverse and inclusive organisation positioned to understand and serve our communities. So you’ll be ready to give your best in the service of others, in areas that matter.

And in return for your hard work, we can offer you:

  • Work / Life Balance;

  • Modern environment with friendly team;

  • Kaimahi centred discounts across banking and wellbeing activities;

  • Commitment to professional development;

  • The opportunity to serve our iwi and community aspirations – to be a part of a bigger purpose.

Excited? We are – because we’re up to big things! If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with Hori Waaka on 0274567840 or email: hori.waaka@oratoa.co.nz
