Te Kete Hāpai

What is Te Kete Hāpai?

The purpose of Te Kete Hāpai is to remove barriers to wellbeing and prosperity, by improving access, increasing connection to whakapapa and supporting opportunities to grow and prosper as an iwi, hapū and whānau.

Te Kete Hāpai aims to support our iwi members to strengthen our Ngāti Toatanga and encourage whānaungatanga and manaakitanga to each other.

Te Kete Hāpai will invest in

  • Our Reo

Our reo, tikanga, and kawa hold immense significance to us, and we must invest in revitalizing our language and culture to uphold and reflect their importance.

The Te Reo Acquisition Strategy and Programme will provide tailored wānanga and learning opportunities designed to meet the specific needs of our iwi, including enhancing our capacity and capability on the paepae.

  • Our Marae

Our marae and urupā are at the heart of our cultural identity, embodying our essence as Ngāti Toa.

We will collaborate with marae and urupā committees to develop plans for upgrades and investments, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of our people and are cared for and cherished by generations to come.

  • Our Whānau

We will provide additional grants and assistance to support whānau with tamariki, recognizing that fostering and maintaining connections to Ngāti Toa is vital to strengthen whanaungatanga and celebrate our Ngāti Toatanga.

Supporting our kaumātua with dignity and ensuring they have the autonomy to be cared for in the way they choose is a key priority. We will achieve this through specialized grants and tailored support.
