Te Kete Hāpai
What is Te Kete Hāpai?
The purpose of Te Kete Hāpai is to remove barriers to wellbeing and prosperity, by improving access, increasing connection to whakapapa and supporting opportunities to grow and prosper as an iwi, hapū and whānau.
Te Kete Hāpai aims to support our iwi members to strengthen our Ngāti Toatanga and encourage whānaungatanga and manaakitanga to each other.
Te Kete Hāpai will invest in
-
Our Reo
Our reo, tikanga and kawa are of the utmost importance to us and we need to invest in our acquisition to reacquire our language and culture to demonstrate that importance.
The Te Reo Acquisition Strategy and Programme will ensure that we have wānanga and learning opportunities bespoke to the needs of our iwi such as strengthening our capacity and capability on the paepae.
-
Our Marae
Our marae and urupa are the centre of our cultural life and underpin our expression as Māori and as Ngāti Toa.
We will work with our marae and urupa committees on plans to upgrade and invest in our marae and urupa to ensure that they can meet the needs of our people and that they are looked after and nourished by generations with years to come.
-
Our Whānau
We will extend our support to whānau with tamariki through additional grants and assistance. Building and maintaining connections to Ngāti Toa is important for the Mauriora of the iwi and this assistance, while relatively modest, provides important opportunities to build whanaungatanga and our Ngāti Toatanga.
Ensuring our kaumatua are afforded the dignity and autonomy to be looked after in the way they want to is an important initiative to be able to provide. We will do this through specialized grants and additional support.
