Sitting within our broader Pātaka Toa – Education & Employment team; our Te Puna Mātauranga and Te Kura o Toa provide education offerings that works to empower and equip our future of tomorrow, today. Working alongside a broader team of education specialists, our Education Specialist - Kaiako plays an integral role in providing exceptional educational support to our akonga (learners) through teaching interventions, equipping whānau and working collaboratively across the broader Pātaka Toa group.
Our roles at Pātaka Toa is a collective effort, and we work together to facilitate our communities to achieve prosperity. We believe that education and employment can unlock this door, and that individual, whānau, hapū, Iwi and community prosperity is achieved through innovative thinking, enabling mana motuhake (self-determination) and fostering a strong sense of culture and self-identity.

The Education Specialist - Kaiako is a varied role, which is responsible for ….
• Supporting the achievement of akonga outcomes and academic aspirations through inspirational teaching in a wananga style approach,
• Nurturing professional relationships with educational providers, whānau and our broader networks to ensure that our service continues to advocate, empower and equip our youth,
• Empowering Te Puna Mātauranga and Te Kura o Toa outcomes through innovative and collaborative teaching and akonga design, effective teaching delivery and continuous improvement activities that inspires our akonga to achieve the best possible outcomes, and
• Foster opportunities to collaborate and work across our service to enhance and uplift the mana of Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira and Ngāti Toa whānau.
