Niue Community Health Day
On Saturday, 16 November we hosted a successful Niue Community Health Day, aimed at promoting health and wellness within the Niuean community. Over 60 community members participated in the event, which took place throughout the morning. The day focused on several key health areas, including heart health, diabetes management, asthma education, ear checks, pharmacist advice, and Help C screenings.
Key serviced provided:
Heart Checks: Attendees were provided with screening for diabetes and personalized advice on managing blood sugar levels, healthy lifestyle habits, and prevention strategies.
Diabetes check & Advice: Attendees were provided with screening for diabetes and personalized advice on managing blood sugar levels, healthy lifestyle habits, and prevention strategies.
Asthma Education & Advice: Health professionals offered valuable information on asthma management, including tips on triggers, medication use, and long-term care strategies.
Ear Checks: Free ear checks were conducted to assess hearing health, with advice provided on how to protect hearing and recognise potential issues early. Also removal of wax or foreign objects out of the ear canal.
Pharmacist Advice: A qualified pharmacist was available to answer any medication-related questions, offer guidance on prescriptions, and provide advice on over-the-counter products.
Help C Screening: Community members also had the opportunity to participate in the Help C screening, which aids in early detection of potential health issues.
The event was met with positive feedback, as it not only provided essential health screenings but also encouraged the community to prioritize their well-being. Many individuals expressed appreciation for the ease of access to healthcare services and the educational opportunities provided.
