502 Rangatahi Ora Service
The 502 Rangatahi Ora Service was established in partnership with Porirua Partners in 2021 to provide primary healthcare and social services for Porirua youth aged 10 to 24. Today, the service is fully owned by Ora Toa and offers a wide range of integrated support to enhance the well-being of rangatahi across the 502 (Porirua).
Official Opening of Te Whare Rangatahi o 502
On Friday, 28 February, Te Whare Rangatahi o 502 officially opened its doors at [insert physical address], welcoming rangatahi into a dynamic new space designed to support and empower them. The facility provides a safe and inclusive environment with opportunities for social connection, recreation, and personal growth.
Rangatahi can enjoy activities like ping pong, pool, and gaming consoles while participating in structured programmes covering health and well-being, mentoring, homework support, and music sessions. The space also offers dedicated areas for gaming, relaxation, and informal conversations with youth workers, ensuring support is accessible for all—whether they are thriving or in need of additional guidance.
Staffing and Services
Te Whare Rangatahi o 502 is supported by a dedicated team of five kaimahi (youth workers), along with support staff and management. Their commitment ensures that the space remains safe, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of rangatahi.
502’s Vision for the Community
Our mission is to provide a welcoming space where rangatahi feel a sense of belonging and support. Te Whare Rangatahi o 502 is a place where young people can connect, participate in meaningful activities, and access resources that empower them to take ownership of their space and future.
Growth and Future Plans
Looking ahead, we aim to expand our services by introducing new initiatives that meet the evolving needs of our rangatahi. This includes increasing access to resources, offering skill development opportunities, and strengthening our support network.
Our vision is for Te Whare Rangatahi o 502 to become a central hub where rangatahi can access community support, build resilience, and develop the tools they need to navigate their individual journeys.
