Ngāti Toa is a vibrant and influential iwi, firmly grounded in our cultural identity. You will joining a fun and amazing team in the heart of Porirua as part of the Rūnanga Cultural Services Rōpū. A team that is committed to the people and communities we serve.
Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role
The Kaitiaki Pūranga will assess, organise, catalogue, store and provide access to records and documents of long term historical or research value for Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira and the wider Ngāti Toa Iwi communities.
The Kaitia Puranga role is responsible for:
• Assessing and cataloguing historical materials and objects;
• Research and source historical information;
• Ensure historical records are maintained and accessible;
• Archiving and storage of taonga:
• Providing advice relevant to culturally accepted usage of Ngāti Toa history, records and other material

After hearing about us and about the role, you’ll know whether you’re the right person, and whether now is the right time for you. Your high-level experience and professional expertise in Storage of taonga is a given, and you will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngāti Toa. Of course, you’ll be well practiced with/in
• Assessing historical materials and objects
• Archiving and storage of taonga
• Giving advice relevant to culturally accepted usage of Ngāti Toa taonga.
