Welcoming Carra Hamon

We wish to formally introduce Carra Hamon who has officially taken up the newly established role of Pou Ohanga at the Rūnanga this week.

Carra will form part of the Executive Leadership team, her responsibilities will include managing and growing the economic base of the Rūnanga through our commercial arms. Our significant housing development programme will also sit within with the Pou Ohanga.

Carra has held senior management roles across government with extensive experience in investments and organisational transformation.

We caught up with Carra recently to ask her a few pātai;

Whānau and whakapapa:

My parents are Kane and Jacqui Hamon. I have one sister, Hilary Fuller. Through my mum I whakapapa to Ngāti Toa and Ngā Ruahine and have iwi affiliations to Ngāti Porou through my dad. Our whānau home was in Takapuwahia which is where I grew up. I then relocated to Wellington and have lived there ever since.

My partner, Craig and I have one daughter Harper who is 6 and a half going on 26!

Previous Role and Experience:

I’ve spent all of my working life in the public service in a number of different roles from strategy and planning, investment, monitoring and evaluation, social service contracting and governance.

In my previous role at Te Puni Kokiri I managed the Investment Planning and Support Team. The core functions of this team include, Investment strategy and planning, Contracting Centre of Excellence, Investment monitoring and performance.

I hold a Masters in Public Management and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education from Victoria University

What are you looking forward to most about working for Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira?

Direct outcomes for our whānau.

What do you think is the most important aspect of your role?

Boosting our investments.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to shop, eat out and up until COVID -19 like the rest of us, 'travel' was big on my list!
